Juan Ramon from UCPCO Visits Green Mountain Coffee

Juan Ramón Altamirano is the cupper (taste evaluator) for a coop based in San Juan Rio Coco, in Madriz, Nicaragua. He flew to Vermont in August to spend a week with us cupping in our Coffee Lab to get “calibrated”. Getting “calibrated” means getting his taste buds on the same page as ours so that in the next year and beyond we can talk apples to apples when we’re buying coffee from his Fair Trade Organic coop – UCPCO – Unión de Cooperativas Productores de Café. It was a great opportunity for us to learn more about UCPCO and a great opportunity for Juan and his coop to get to know Green Mountain Coffee, our business and the overall coffee market in the US. This video is an introduction from Juan and then some clips of his visit, time in the cupping lab, and then thank-yous to the coop from employees.
